TRAVEL & STYLE: Personalize your Vacation with Kleenex Design

As you have probably come to find out, I love to travel and I do it often.  I travel for vacation and for work, and the most important thing for me is expressing my personal style even when I am on the go.  This Sunday, I will be heading to LA to sell at the Rosebowl Flea Market with my friend Allyson like we did last year with her friend Sonja, from Sunday Girl Finds, and I must say traveling down the coast and staying on top of your style is harder than you might think.  But with the flux in temperatures from NorCal to SoCal, and the height of allergy season wreaking havoc on my sinuses, I have found a no brainer solution to keep myself together during my travels.

Kleenex has been a go-to product for stylish people everywhere for over 90 years (happy anniversary Kleenex!) and they are bringing even more style to our lives with their brand spanking new Kleenex Style Studio.  They have a whole new line of pocket sized tissue packs that are perfect for when I am on the go, and they fit just about anywhere.  Not to mention, the packs come in a variety of prints and styles, so you can match them to your outfits or your mood!

You can bet I will be taking my Kleenex packs to LA this weekend, I absolutely adore this city print on the packaging.

I also have made a habit of cleaning my bathroom from top to bottom before I take a trip.  I always put a Kleenex tissue box in my bathroom so when I come home from a long day of traveling, I see a perfectly cleaned and arranged bathroom and I instantly relax.  You may think it’s weird, but just trust me and give it a try.  There are so many great designs, that I’m sure you will find one that suits your personality.  I found this awesome geo tribal/Moroccan design, which I always gravitate towards.  The bright colors are so perfect and they express my unique style.

Kleenex just partnered with Isaac Mizrahi (one of my favorite fashion personalities and designers) to create four designs which are not only inspirational, but will most certainly help you elevate and express your personal style while keeping you on trend. Check out the Kleenex style finder, take the quiz and watch videos featuring Isaac Mizrahi where he provides his latest style advice and shares his own experience as a design leader for more than two decades.  I just love the Andy Warhol and pop art inspired designs, and I most definitely love the oval box!  How chic?!  No wonder Kleenex has been exhibited in the MoMA twice!  Check out my Pinterest to see more of my favorite designs and Kleenex trivia!

A new take on floral

Now you know a little one of my tricks to keep me stylish on the go.  What’s your favorite Kleenex design?

I hope to see you all in LA at The Rosebowl!   Thank you Kleenex for sponsoring this post and keeping me stylish on the go!

Pretty sweet huh? Check out how cute the 1970’s Credenza Bookshelf looks in Shannon’s apartment.

This is definitely one of my favorite pieces (besides the Knoll, of course).

Lastly, checkout Terrill’s dreamy New York apartment reading nook, featuring a sun ray wall clock from our shop!

I am always so pleased to see how furniture from the shop takes on a life of its own after it leaves my hands.  I strongly believe that just because it’s old, doesn’t mean furniture is dead.  It just needs another chance to live on.  And that’s what I’m here for.  If you have bought a piece of furniture from me, please shoot me an email with a photo of it in your house (email is on the home page).

In other news, I will be at Fairfax Flea at The Garage in downtown Fairfax this Saturday!  We had so much fun last time that I had to do it again.

Allyson won’t be there this time, she will be off living the Birthday Life…because well this month is her birthday!  Since I knew I wouldn’t get to see her, I brought over a little surprise for her so we could celebrate early.  So after 8 hours of shooting new items for our shops, we cracked open a bottle of bubbly and sliced ourselves some sour cream angel food cake. Deeeeelish!

POSTMORTEM: Silver Lake Art Craft & Vintage + Rose Bowl Flea Market

Last weekend Allyson from Birthday Life Vintage and I embarked on an epic road trip to Los Angeles to do two shows; Silver Lake Art Craft & Vintage and Rosebowl Flea Market. Silver Lake was such a cute little place, with the farmer’s market right down the street it was the perfect day for an outdoor fair!  Allyson and I had so much fun there, we hope you did too!

600535_10151511768478740_1455364998_n 960137_10151511826513740_518973061_n992826_10151511826368740_1483289712_n

At Silver Lake, I met Carrie from Barrington Blue and Lisa from Recycculents.  It’s so funny, the day before the market, I was browsing through Instagram and I found Carrie’s photos and I fell in love with her designs.  As we pulled into the parking lot of the elementary school that morning to set up our booth, I instantly spotted Carrie’s upholstery work.  What a small world!

At the Rose Bowl, we decorated our space with a July 4th theme!  We got up super early (3am) and got to The Bowl at about 4:30am.  It was really crazy with all the pickers with their flashlights hunting us down and snooping through our van while we were unpacking!  It was so much fun though.

Allyson and I got so pumped for our themed booth that we even dressed up in matching outfits!  Allyson is wearing deadsock vintage red, white and blue floral capris and a boatneck red and white striped top.  I am wearing a red and white striped tank that I made and a maxi skirt I made from blue and white floral vintage fabric.

All day we ran into super cool, fun and fashionable people; and I couldn’t help but to take some pics!

See you at the next flea!

xoxo Joules

SF EVENTS: A C’est Très Magnifique Garage Sale with Birthday Life Vintage [04.28.13 10a-4p]

Last weekend I met a kindred vintage spirit, that just so happened to be one of the most kismet connections I have had in a while.  Allyson of Birthday Life Vintage rocks Bettie Page bangs, a teeny tiny waist and a sassy attitude to boot.  Besides that her personal style is off the charts, her vintage selection is curated to the max.

While at the Swing Madness Shop N’ Hop event, we got to talking and well, now I’m joining her for her garage sale in NOPA.

I love this picture Allyson took of me at the Shop N’ Hop event.

The sale will take place during the hours (and perhaps a little after) of the Divisadero Farmer’s Market.  We will be set up at Grove & Broderick at 10am.  There you can find cheap and chic goodies for your home, wardrobe and more from Allyson, her friend Amanda, and yours truly.  I will also be whipping up some yummy bites for you and your pup!  Hibiscus Berry Zinger Iced Tea (from scratch- oh yes), Zucchini Cranberry Banana Bread and two kinds of homemade dog biscuits!  Who knows, you may even see some handmade fresh flower crowns for sale!

Meet Amanda! She bought this awesome 60’s dress from me at the Shop N’ Hop event last weekend.
