SHOP NEWS & EVENTS: 4th of July Sale + Pop Up Shops and Local Events!

I’ve been a busy lady these past few months!  Not only have I begun working professionally as a photographer for a local fashion company (finally), but I’ve also been juggling the planning of my upcoming nuptials!  It’s been a bit crazy, but honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way.

But first thing’s first- you’re probably like hey, you mentioned a sale…I wanna know!

Right now, through Sunday 07/06/14 the ENTIRE shop is 20% off!

No coupon code needed!

Visit Joules Jewels Vintage to take a look-see at what we have up our sleeves.

Okay, now back to it.  As if I didn’t have enough going on these days, I have decided that my schedule isn’t full enough (call me crazy) and I’ve added two shows and will be opening up our Mission location twice a month (2nd and last weekends of July and August) where we will feature an artist and a designer to showcase and sell their work.  They don’t call it summer of love for nothing!

We are still looking for designers and artists to fill some spots, so if you’re interested, comment below with your email or send me a note to info [at] jjvshop.com.  You can also DM me on Instagram with a sample of your work @jjoules.

POSTMORTEM: Treasure Island Flea @fleaTI + T-We @SFtwetea + Lix Perle

For those of you who peeped the Instagram or Facebook page, you knew we had a booth this past weekend at Treasure Island Flea.  The weather was amazing and so beautiful, it was almost a crime to be inside, so all you lovelies who shopped with us, you probably got your vitamin D fix.

Aside from the beautiful weather, my booth was right next to a lovely little lady, Lyseen, from Lix Perle.  How cute are we in red houndstooth?!  Lyseen makes super awesome infinity scarves made from vintage fabrics or that have been knit by either her or her (totally adorbs) mom.

We had so much fun being neighbors, and Lyseen even brought her favorite inspiration book to share with me, Fruits by Shoichi Aoki (also by my favorite publisher Phaidon), about Tokyo street fashion.  There is also a second book, by the same author; check it out HERE.  Tokyo is totally on my bucket list– I have always been inspired by Japanese street fashion and the fashion fearlessness everyone possesses.  Lyseen and I even stopped by T-We for some yummy tea samples.  There, we met Christopher and Kier, two totally awesome tea blending, holster-wearing guys.  Turns out they knew my accountability buddy Dani, from The Recoverie.

While sitting at my booth drinking my favorite Earl Grey, photography student, Kim Nguyen, zipped by me with two cameras and then came back and asked me if she could take my picture.  She was so sweet, and I love that she was using two cameras– one for black and white and the other for color.  Rock, on Kim, rock on.

PS The hat I am wearing is totally my fave!  I don’t think I can part with it…sorry ladies.  But I have many many more for your spring time pleasure!  Coming soon!

NEWS & POSTMORTEM: Your SQFT Mid-Market Launch August 1, 2012 + Video Feature!

On August 1st, Your SQFT first launched their concept of Urban Revitalization on Market Street right here in SF.  It was a great event and my favorite crafty chica Victoria from Our House Vintage & Design was there to help me sell at my booth at this lovely pop-up event!

Being a young small business owner, I have been looking for a space to call home and open up for business…permanently.  San Francisco is LOADED with tons of empty spaces where the owners are still holding on to rent them out for top dollar, when this economy just can’t support that idea.  Property value is down (everyone knows that), and it’s just foolish to let these spaces stand alone and rot.  It’s better to bring in small businesses who can supplement even fifty percent of the value than to loose one hundred percent every month.  Not to mention, these small businesses will increase future property value in the community and boost morale for all who inhabit the space.  It’s why it’s YOUR SQFT.  We all can do something to make our communities something we can cherish and say that we had a hand in supporting.  We have a responsibility to work together to make our communities and neighborhoods a better place.

The beautiful video below was shot by Your SQFT on August 1st, 2012 with a cameo appearance by yours truly!  I hope you love it!

SHOPPING: Fab Finds, Fabulous People and Fresh Baked Goods at Alameda Antique Faire [03.04.12]

I love this look! She looks like a modern day pinup. Her hair is perfect and those jeans are doing her justice! I love this rockabilly look- it's something I don't ever think I could pull off myself but I have admired it for years.

And her tattoo sleeve is lovely! Again, something I wish I had the guts to do (I'm kinda a wuss when it comes to tattoos).

This is such an inspiring look! Fun and tailored, and perfect for 75 degree weather! And who said an oversized tote was just for ladies? Yeah, right! He's rockin' it!

And this hat!? YES, YES, YES. Many times, yes! I love when people wear traditional statement pieces with contemporary clothing.

This guy is one of my favorite people who comes to the faire. He has so much energy and is so gutsy with his style.

This lovely lady has executed effortless style perfectly. She looks comfortable and fabulous!

She also has an incredibly adorably chic mother.

And they have matching tattoos! Daughter: I love you more. Mother: I love you most.

This fab trio were rocking stripes! I love it!

Check out the striped socks!!!!!

This awesome chica, Kennis Chow, was hanging out with her really cool brother, Dickson, shopping my booth and I couldn't help but to notice that she is super adorable.

And she was toting probably one of the most badass digital cameras I have seen to date. The Fuji x100. HOLY MOLY.

This man was sporting the best leather goods I have seen for dudes. Very nice!

I mean, check out this bag and his shoes! OH YEAH. Amazing.

These ladies were super fly! A cape made from an over-sized silk scarf? Check. Chambray? Check. Easy breezy? I think so!!!! The lovely lady on the left owns Green in Oakland. Check it out.

GREENBOUTIQUESUITE.COM

This is one of my fave outfits of the day probably. I mean, all black is timeless and I love a good slouchy getup. The topper on the cake for me is her granny cart that has an old school boombox and a Chanel bag inside. LIKE, YEAH> YOU ROCK. Check out Liz's blog.

YEAH, BABY!

GOTTAGETTHEGOODS.COM

Speaking of cake, I made 2 dozen light and fluffy strawberry vegan cupcakes for customers who made a purchase of $25 or more.  I think they turned out pretty well!  For those of you who got one, I hope you liked it!!!!!!

I also found some AMAZING little items at the faire.    Some are for me and some are for the shop.

I found these amazing patent leather mens shoes. Made in Italy with leather soles! I'm going to replace the laces with super fluffy ribbon to wear them with my skinny jeans. You'll see- it's going to be amazing.

This ridiculously amazing carpet bag! It's got lots of little pockets for me to put all my little gadgets in. Airport bag? You bet.

This lovely straw bag is for the shop! You'll see it online soon! The straw detaches so you can wash the canvas sack inside. And the wooden handle is just to die for!

And this darling black suede mini clutch is so amazing! It'll be in the shop too!!

See you at the next event!

xoxo, Joules

NEWS: JJV on An Orange Moon! Plus Exclusive Photos!

To me, our home is our sanctuary.  You have to put love into it to get love out.  Nesting is what comes natural to most humans; claiming your space and putting your seal of approval down for all your guests to see.  I just tend to take it to another level.

The same day we moved in to our SF apartment, I couldn’t wait to unpack.  I unpacked over half of our boxes, hung up all of our clothes and loaded the dishwasher with our (small) assortment of china.  It was like the first day of school, you stay up all night getting your outfit together so that when the sun rises in the morning…you are ready to start your new life.  I didn’t go to bed until almost 4am.

We started out with almost nothing, and now it’s bursting at the seams with curiosities.  I love it.  Living with a man in the house, you have to make it work; meshing masculine and feminine together isn’t impossible.  I think our apartment is just as much mine as it is his.

And now this brings me to our first ever apartment feature!  Lynne McDaniel from An Orange Moon in Chicago, IL has put our design aesthetic front and center on her blog!  You can read the article HERE.

If you’re in Chicago, don’t forget to stop by An Orange Moon to check out Lynne’s amazing stock of Mid Century furniture and decorating doodads.  You will have to pick your jaw off the floor more than once.  I promise.
