HELP: Vote JJV to Win $250,000 Grant from @ChaseBank_ & @Livingsocial

The name Joules Jewels was born when I was in 7th grade while making and selling jewelry at my school’s craft fair every spring (The Maret School in Washington, DC).

After moving to Chicago in 2008, I looked at Etsy.com and fell in love with the idea of owning my own business again and decided to bring the name back. This time, selling jewelry as well as all things vintage. Thus, I opened my online store, Joules Jewels Vintage, in April 2009– one month before my graduation date. I went to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and graduated in 2009 with a BFA in Photography. In the summer of 2010, I was featured in Chicago’s Time Out Magazine, as a vintage vendor on the rise. On May 5, 2011, I was honored as one of Chicago’s newest female entrepreneurs on the rise by Maven Chicago in conjunction with Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine. Now that I have moved to San Francisco, I have expanded the brand even further by stocking children’s and men’s clothing, housewares, and hand-finishing vintage furniture.  I am finally ready to open my very own brick and mortar storefront!

This grant would mean that my business dreams would finally come to fruition!  I would finally be able to open a vintage storefront in San Francisco and combine my love for vintage/retail and the arts under one roof.   This has been a part of my long-term life goals.  Our storefront would be the epicenter for the community where new designers, artists, and musicians can exist, exhibit, and profit in full circle (especially locals)!

I have enough inventory to line the walls of a shop and fill several cases with clothing for men, women, and children, vintage housewares, jewelry, shoes, accessories, and furniture.  It’s bananas.

This isn’t even half of it….
